I attempted to enroll in a driving school in Istanbul, owned by Mr. S.I., which is well-known for its advertisements on social media and even on television. However, I soon discovered that the person responsible for training, Mr. S.I., was completely unqualified to train.
In the first five minutes of the practical lesson, the training ended in an accident that almost resulted in a knee fracture when the motorcycle fell on it. The bike accelerated quickly, flipped over, and I fell to the ground with the bike on top of me. I quickly got up out of fear that the bike might catch fire due to the oil leaking from it.
To my shock, Mr. S.I., the trainer, sat on the ground laughing hysterically without any sense of responsibility. He didn’t even try to check if there was any bleeding or fracture, as if safety protocols and first aid measures were the least of his concerns.
Mr. S.I. did not provide me with any protective gear except for a helmet that was far too large for my head. The reason for the accident was that I had previously told them I wanted to start slowly because I knew nothing about driving. Mr. S.I. explained the steps as follows, literally:
“This is the clutch,
This is the gas,
This is the hand brake,
This is the foot brake.
Release the clutch slowly and drive to the end of the track, then come back.”
And then he left me completely on my own to “try my luck,” which resulted in a terrifying accident.
What I want to say is that if you feel your trainer is unqualified and lacks even the slightest sense of responsibility or conscience, the best option for you is to leave the school, regardless of the financial loss.
In the event of fractures or bleeding, these schools will do everything they can to play the victim, and you will suffer mentally, physically, and financially without receiving any help or compensation, as they will claim it was your fault for not following their instructions.
