you must pay attention to the following warnings:

At the end of this article, there are recommendations that will help you pass the theoretical driving exam in Turkey with a high score, God willing, so make sure to read the article to the end.

Ladies and gentlemen who wish to learn driving: some corrupt driving schools and immoral individuals exploit the lack of knowledge of basic rights by citizens or residents. As a result, they easily manipulate and deceive, leading to financial and psychological exploitation and depriving people of their most basic rights.

I am writing to you from my personal experience to raise awareness, especially for foreign women who may face difficulty seeking legal help due to language barriers and are treated as weaker parties who cannot do anything.
I repeat, this post is meant to raise awareness, not to insult anyone, based on my experience with a driving school whose name I choose not to mention.

  1. In these types of schools, when you sign the contract, they will keep the original copy and not give you one so they can deny the terms of the contract, financial details, and dates when they break the terms. Therefore, you must get a copy of the contract, read it carefully, or translate it (Google Translate is sufficient) to understand the details of the amount, the price of each theoretical and practical session, and the duration of the practical training (because they won’t even stick to the agreed time for lessons or practical training).
Make sure to keep a copy of the contract with you and don’t lose it because they will never send it to you.
  2. These schools will not provide you with a theoretical driving guide, and when you ask them for one, they will say it’s being printed, even though they have hundreds of copies in the drawers. You must insist on getting it from the start. Even if it’s in Turkish, you need to familiarize yourself with traffic signs, vehicle dashboard signals, first aid diagrams, and traffic police hand signals from the book. Once you recognize their shapes, if you still don’t understand their meanings, you can look them up on Google.
  3. In these types of schools, they will ask for full payment as soon as the practical exam is scheduled. They won’t give you a receipt for the full payment, so you should delay the payment until the practical training is fully completed or, at the very least, demand a signed receipt showing full payment.
Because when they fail to provide practical training, they will deny everything and refuse to give you a receipt for the amount received.
  4. Once you’ve paid the full amount, these schools will no longer answer your calls. They will force you to go to the school for even the smallest details, wasting your time, and they will delay the practical training because they lack instructors and accept far more applicants than they can handle.
Unfortunately, there is no solution to this problem because they simply won’t answer your calls or WhatsApp messages and will completely ignore you.
  5. In these types of schools, if they feel you don’t drive well, they will refuse to give you practical lessons (literally, from experience). You need to be good enough at driving so that there’s no chance of damaging their vehicles because they don’t have insurance on the vehicles, or their insurance won’t cover repair costs due to other violations I will discuss in the next recommendation.
Unfortunately, there is no solution to this except to train at a professional and reputable school.
  6. If you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle at these schools, they won’t provide knee and elbow protectors, and their instructors are completely unqualified to assess your driving skills and control, especially if you are a complete beginner. They will have no problem letting you try to ride on your own without any sense of responsibility in case of an accident, with the excuse that you didn’t understand the instructions. After that, they may cancel or postpone the practical training and replace you with other people because, as I mentioned, they have a shortage of instructors and accept more trainees than they can handle.
This might be why insurance companies are not responsible for covering accidents at their schools.*

There’s no solution to this either because it can affect you psychologically, making you afraid to drive again, and physically, you could get hurt in an accident. You should simply choose another school with highly responsible instructors.

As a gift to everyone, here is this website:
https://www.turkehliyet.com/exam/
This is the website I used to study for the theoretical driving exam, and thank God, I scored 92%. Thanks to God, this website, and my efforts, not the school’s theoretical lessons. This website contains sample questions from the theoretical driving exam. You must answer all the questions, and the site will automatically give you your result. You should go back and review your answers because the site will highlight your wrong answers in red and show you the correct answers. Therefore, you need to memorize the correct answers.

The site changes the questions every time you open it, so you can open it multiple times and get a large variety of questions and learn their answers.
Finally, you should review the traffic signs; you can search for them on Google in Arabic because they are standardized.
Review the vehicle dashboard signals; you can also search for them on Google.
Review the traffic police hand signals.
Review the methods of transporting an injured person and the correct positions based on the injury.
Good luck to everyone.
